Social Media Marketing WhatsApp Class 1

Hello guys,

Good day,

And I trust we are all staying fine and safe.

It is really a great honour having to speak with you today, and I appreciate you.

It wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of the organisers, and of course everyone of you.

I couldn't have been speaking to myself... haha!

Okay, before I begin, I will do a very brief information.

My name is Igbo Clifford, and I am a twin blogger, writer, video content creator, web designer and Forex trader.

I co-founded InfoGuideAfrica.com, Browse.ng as well as a good number of other websites with my twin, Stanford.

Today, we'd be discussing Basic Social Media Marketing, and we'll be seeing how you can use the 'free' power of the social media to drive thousands of sales and conversions to your businesses and other pages.

Now, I'm not here to talk about some jargon, and things that haven't been working for me.

I have been able to create and manage Facebook pages with over 100,000 followers, and my Twitter handle has over 13,000 followers.

I have never used paid ads to get followers, though I have (it is very necessary) used it to generate leads to my sales pages several times.

It is not even advisable to depend solely on free social media users, as they have greatly reduced the reach and impressions free posts get.

Before I begin, what is social media?

Social media can be simply defined as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

They include things like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Quora and over a hundred others.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is the use of social media platforms to connect with your audience in order to build your brand, increase sales, and drive website traffic.

This involves publishing great content on your social media profiles, listening to and engaging your followers, analyzing your results, and running social media advertisements.

People use social media for different reasons.

Some use it only for chatting, and they rarely make posts till the end of the year...Lol!

Some others use it for connecting to celebrities, like I had a female Chinese friend who signed up for Instagram because she was crushing on a basketballer.

I also have friends who use it to kill boredom, and they are not interested in making money from it.

They are the ones you will see on Tunde Ednut's page, waiting for the next trending video he'd drop.

Most of them do not have any followers at all. They are only interested in following and chatting with people.

There are also a minority who are on social media to beg. They are so much on Don Jazzy's page, and you can find them on Emoney and Cubana Chiefpriest's page. They are waiting for the next giveaway.

All these ones are okay, but they are not making any money from social media.

The main people we should aim to be are the last group, who are on social media to create good contents, with the aim of making money with it.

The money could be direct, ie you are selling stuff, or have a good number of followers and so people pay you to advertise.

My personal Instagram page, @TalkTalkTwins which was recently deactivated had only 2,000 followers when I got my first paid post from a Nigerian travel agency.

You can also indirectly make money from social media, it by sending people to your blog and YouTube channel.

They do not buy anything from you, but you make money from the blog and YouTube channel.

This is my favourite, and it is very easy.

I get over 20,000 daily page views on my website, and a reasonable percentage of the traffic come from social media.

I have about five Twitter pages, and even the one that has only a thousand followers is sending good traffic to my blog.

How am I able to share posts to these pages at a time? Don't worry, we will see that in the course of the classes.

The Five Core Pillars of Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is not the most simple thing you will do, and it far more than just writing posts and getting them published.

There are strategies you should use it your articles must stand out.

I have grown Facebook pages from 0 followers to 30,000 active followers, and I must tell you that there are strategies you must put in place if you want to achieve success.

Now, the five core pillars of social media marketing are:

- Strategy: What are the strategies you want to use in the building of your pages?

Do you want to run paid ads, use the regular invitation, do giveaways or run it with the influence of a celebrity, something like an impersonation since contacting them will be far more expensive, if possible.

It also has to do with the types of contents you want to share and the strategies you will use.

- Planning and publishing: How do you intent publishing?

Is it once a day, or twice a week, or even many times a day? It all depends on you.

You can use a software like Buffer.com to autoshare your posts to different social media platforms at a time, so you focus on creating better contents rather than sharing them.

- Listening and engagement: If you reply to people's comments and DMs, they will love you better and connect with you on a personal note.

That is why you see celebrities hosting live videos here and there.

It gives the fans the impression that they are with you, and it will improve your engagement.

- Analytics: Platforms like Twitter and Instagram will let you know how many people saw your posts, while this feature is only available for Facebook pages.

You need to monitor your page actively, and learn what works best for you.

Do you reach more people in the night? When do you get more comments and likes? All these things matter.

- Advertising: Social media is already an advertising platform of it's own, but you also need to invest to reach more people.

If you have some budget, you can invest in paid ads. If not, you can consider doing some things like follow for follow, though I don't advise them.

Paid ads will give you the best followers. There are also there ways to gather followers, ie doing giveaways.

Let's take that for the basics, so we don't make the classes too boring.

I will be going into reviewing the three major social networking platforms - Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

There are hundreds of other social networking platforms, but these 3 are the most used by Nigerians.

What about WhatsApp and Telegram? You may ask.

Those ones are limited to people who you already have their contacts, so you have to get contacts from the first three above, then drag them to WhatsApp or Telegram and make money from offering services.

We will be starting with Facebook.

- Facebook: The king of social networking sites was started in the year 2004.

It had about 22.4 million active users in the year 2018, and expected to spring to 30.4 million by 2023.

You might be thinking that these are just figures, and not your business, but that would be a very huge misconception.

Having 22.4 million users means you have the opportunity to reach out to these 22.4 million people with your goods and services.

However, there is a limit to the number of friends you can have, and so you will be needing a Facebook page.

Creating a Facebook page will also give you access to a lot of other functions, such as tracking your post reach, advertising to other Facebook users and running multiple Facebook pages.

Now, as we all know, Facebook is a very crowded place, and second to Twitter in terms of posts made by users.

The possibility of your posts getting seen by other users is low, and not guaranteed, so you need to invest in ads.

Forget about spamming groups, it will get you banned, and when my own website was banned, I had to pay someone to unban it.

That was before, I eventually got a course and in it I was taught how to unban my url.

In advertising your posts to Facebook users, you have to know a few things;

- People don't normally buy on first sight, so take them to Telegram or WhatsApp, or possibly collect their emails to help you send them 'tricky' reminders of their posts

- Giveaways and freebies are the best selling points

- Your images cannot have much text, and videos do best

Now, when running ads, don't keep a budget of $10 and try to reach 2 million people... Lol! We all did that, and it will only waste your money

Try to target only people in a particular region, so as to make sure only people interested in your posts get it

Using the photo of a female in your ads have been proven to increase conversions by 20%, and I think it's not a crime if we do that.

Go to Pixabay.com or any other free stock images website, get a beautiful photo of a lady from the region you want to target

For instance, don't use a white lady to target Nigerians and vice versa

Run your ads, learn what works well for you and continue with it.

As much as possible, learn how to spy on your competitors and collect their emails.

Almost all products and services perform well on Facebook ads, since it is not limited to people of a particular interest.

However, you have to advertise to only people interested in what you are advertising, ie selling religious books to people interested in finance will be a business mistake.

We'd be moving over to Instagram.

Instagram is another king of social media, but it is not best for all types of products.

No matter what it is, you must use very interesting photos to sell here.

Facebook ads are very similar to Instagram ads, and you can run ads simultaneously on the both with just a click.

In fact, it is the best idea to make sure you get the possible best results.

Instagram is owned by Facebook, and so they have been working together since it was purchased.

- Twitter: Twitter is one of the best social media platforms on earth currently, and it was founded by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Noah Glass and Biz Stone in 2006.

As at 2019, there were approximately over 10 million Twitter users in Nigeria, and unlike Instagram, there is almost no fake life on the platform.

It is also one of the best places to reach people, especially if you are on a low budget.

Even with less than 100 followers, you can make your posts reach over 100,000 people with the use of hashtags.

This is one of my tweets, https://twitter.com/TalkTalkTwins/status/1256976746924118017.

It got more than 10,000 engagements and reached more than 180,000 people because of the power of hashtags.

Twitter ads are similar to Facebook, but pinned to a minimum budget of $50 to reach an estimated 23,600 people.

On Facebook, I was able to reach 6,000 people with a budged of $10, and if you multiply by 5, $50 will be reaching around 30,000 people on the platform.

Generally, Facebook ads are cheaper so I have never tried Twitter ads.

Whatever it will take, make sure you package your business very well so as to get more conversions to yourself.

There are so many ways to make money from social media, and we would be calling it a day from there.

Some of them include blogging, YouTubing, affiliate marketing, promotions and sales of your products and services.

By blogging and YouTubing, you send traffic from your social media handles to your blogs and YouTube channels, and monetize it from there.

It is my favorite ways of making money from the social media, and I have been able to send over 20,000 people to my blog in a single day from it.

Affiliate marketing is all about referring people to purchase another person's product or services.

For instance, Uche sells shoes, Nkechi is a Facebook user and she has a friend, Ugochi who might be interested in buying shoes.

She refers Ugochi to Nkechi, and earns a commission for each successful purchase.

You can sign up on Jumia, Konga and over 100 other affiliate marketing platforms to begin to make money today.

Then you can sell your products and services on social media, this doesn't need much explanations.

Finally, if you have an active social media page, people will pay you to promote their own products and services.

It is a very nice way of making money, but you require huge followership if you must benefit from it.

Thanks a lot for following us to the end.

Now it's time for questions.

You can drop them here and I will be attending to all.
